Musically it can be defined pop-rock but influences of various kinds can be recognized including soul, new wave and jazz.
The sound is modern but focuses on real instruments such as guitars, piano and percussion. It does not exclude the use of keyboards, making them a very measured use.
The melody plays an important role but not like in the classic Italian song, from this point of view the project has a more international character.
The themes are now sober, now acute and biting, the direct or ironic language clearly distances itself from melodic stereotypes and easy sentimentality.
"Age of gold" is obviously an ironic name because the age we are talking about, although it is considered the most beautiful, also brings with it a lot of bitterness and anxiety.
What dominates the discourse is not happiness or its search, it is rather the search for truth... the rejection of hypocrisy and superficiality.
Any desire to take refuge in an easy optimism, to find an easy way out ... is banned in favor of a constant questioning about the things of life instead.
The conflictual side of life is not ignored - as the search for success or an easy hold on the public would recommend - but rather welcomed, investigated, and an object of reflection.
At the same time it is a fresh and direct music that does not want to fall into the trap of intellectualism. Age of gold speaks of our life as we experience it therefore it is music for everyone.
In the current context, however, this is perhaps a project in search of a new audience, as it offers a completely original way of making Italian music.
An originality that is not given by the desire to tag along or vice versa forcibly distancing oneself from what exists or has existed musically in Italy but from a different nature of inspiration and from a different perspective on the reality we live.
"Età dell'oro" is a unique musical project of its kind also because it is open to the collaborations of different performers.
